The Breed Archive

This was one of our very first conformation shows ever, where Laredo was kindly awarded Best of Breed over Specials under Judge Mike Jackman. Our first big win, our first win photo, and admittedly a very humble grooming job; but a moment we’ll always remember! Two years later, we had the honour of showing under Mike again, and Laredo was awarded a Group 3!

Our first specialty! Only our third show, and it was the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Regional Specialty. Laredo was awarded Winners Dog under Judge Adam Stafford King, standing out from a lovely lineup of boys!

After a three-month break, Laredo and I attended Trillium Dog Fanciers, where he was awarded two Best of Winners under Judge David Kittredge and LTD Judge Dr. Michael Woods, earning his Championship title!

At the Scarborough Kennel Club, Laredo and his littermate, Dixie, earned their Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) titles!

Laredo earned his final points toward his Grand Champion (GCH) title, being awarded Best of Breed under Judge Jo Ann Pavey. While this wasn’t our best win photo, every journey starts somewhere, and we’re proud of his accomplishment!

Laredo put his speed and focus to the test and earned his Novice Sprinter (NS) title at the Red Barn K9 Event Centre!

In 2024, Laredo earned his Novice Trick Dog (NTD) title. In 2025, we worked towards and successfully earned his Intermediate Trick Dog (ITD) and Advanced Trick Dog (ATD) titles!

Laredo made the Final Cut out of 42 Toller entries at the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Regional Specialty under Judge Terry DePietro. He clearly wanted to end the weekend with a bang, as he was kindly awarded Best of Breed under Judge Jon Cole at the Elgin County Kennel Club, completing his Grand Champion Bronze (GCHB) with limited showing!

From his very first show in 2023 to year-end rankings in 2025, Laredo capped the year on a high note, proudly earning his spot as the #8 Toller in the breed; and our grooming has certainly come a long way since then!

And to top it all off, Laredo and I wrapped up the 2025 conformation season as the #3 Owner-Handler in breed; showing how far we’ve come as a team, from 2023 to our accomplishments and growth in 2025!
